Dimanche le 25 Aout.
Well bienvenue to you dear reader on this fine Bank Holiday Sunday.
It’s currently a balmy and sunny 29 degrees as I am sat tip tapping this out on Fiona’s terrace (not a euphemism).
I hope you’ve not had too much of a blog void over the last couple of days. I’ve been taking it easy - which is what my little break has been all about.
If I can persuade my website - you should hopefully have a lovely gallery to look through - but be warned - I’ve found a new portrait setting on my iPhone. So I am looking moody in a variety of tones and background.
I have also sustained a minor foot injury. A giant blister. Caused by walking to and from McDonalds (don’t judge - plus at the moment I’m counting tarte au pommes as fruit) - which for authenticity’s sake is outside of Honfleur City Limits. And MUCH further away than I originally thought. And on the plus side I walked off the calories. PLUS you can have strawberry ice cream in your McFlurry (something about asking for a friend...)
Today - much excitement - Darren is coming to visit for a few days. Thankfully it was yesterday that I found out he wasn’t flying in to the airport I thought (15 mins away) but is actually travelling to Caen Carpiquet. Just over an hour away. Mind you I imagine he’ll have the plane to himself - as Southend on Sea International (I believe aka London Southend) to Caen Carpiquet is hardly London to New York route-wise. He’ll probably have to serve his own snacks and help with the safety demonstration...
With this visitation in mind I have booked a couple of fave restaurants for whilst he is here. Everywhere is currently rammed by 7.30pm. Usually taken up by people off of the Viking River Cruise type boats. They all also seem to have selfie sticks - I didn’t realise they were still a thing? But the restaurants selected should do the trick. And have also discovered a number of new places that do breakfast. Which apart from brunch, is probably my fave meal of the day.
Yesterday was Market Day - which is always a fave. They do have quite a random selection of items from fresh poultry, meat, fish, cheeses, seafood and those god-awful saussicon which look like poodle poo (that I steer well clear of) via woven baskets, hand made soaps and household nick nacks through to knives and ninja throwing stars. Well let me tell you dear reader - I bought nowt. Preferring to end my trip with a visit to the boulangerie. And on a Mercredi there’s a Night Market. Qui jolie.
I’ll leave you with some pics for now. Enjoy.
