Food. Fitness. Fañabe.
Hello again dear reader. I hope you’re not freezing too much as I am livin’ it up in sunny (well occasionally cloudy and even rainy (!)) Tenerife.
I am currently typing at pace on the balcony overlooking the sea - am all dolled up and ready to head out for dinner shortly. Minor issue tonight is that my favourite tapas place is FULLY BOOKED, so I have to cast the restaurant net a bit wider than I would have liked. Still I am booked in for tomorrow night instead.
Having a marvellous time. Weather, as mentioned, has been what I can only describe as ‘iffy’. It’s sunny. It’s cloudy, and yesterday I had to postpone my trip to the supermercado as it was actual raining. Thankfully not for long tho. Temperature-wise it’s typically been around 22/23 which suits my delicate skin (!) - but its chillier in the evening than I remember (currently 18) - but I can’t moan, as I know its cold back in Blighty. And my tan is coming along. Watch mark and all!!
Happily the old apartmentados is much the same - tho as today was vv sunny (see also; slightly sunburned central back area) - it was quite busy poolside. Thankfully I managed to bag a good location on a mattress thing (rather than a sun lounger). They’re v comfy (to the point of me falling asleep), but they’re a bit ungainly to get down slash get up from. So I try not to move about too much from a dignity perspective. It’s like being in eye-bee-fa!
I think the lack of tourism post-pandemic has meant some of the old favourites are no more. Harleys is open just five days a week (arguably better than last year as it was totes closed). The Thirsty Turtle (a fave breakfast venue for me, and fave LAAAAAAAAGER venue for others by night) is RIP. Thankfully sister gaff - The Ginger Pig remains for eggs Benedict. And I am yet to see if the decent Italian is still here - I’m heading off there shortly. But thank heavens my fave tapas place remains, and has expanded! Mind - so have their prices.
Days are typically following their usual holiday fashion - but this year, since I have got a PT, I have been getting up early to do a workout and then a digital spin class. So I am really earning my breakfast. This does mean that I am more focussed on the food - and typically in Tenerife the absolute lack of fruit and veg. So I am endeavouring to make the right choices when I can. Tho did accidentally have a Fat Boy cocktail (steady, I do the jokes) and a Barraquito the other night. Oh and some cider. But I have sourced a new breakfast venue tomorrow. Vegan. I know! I will be telling everyone!!! (But asking for cows milk overnight oats quietly).
And you will be thrilled to see the films are back - I know thats what you come for. So enjoy if you will - Food. Fitness. Fañabe. (Fañabe is the name of a nearby beach and I liked the alliteration). Adios for now!
