30/31 August 2012

Ooh - I'm all a sixes and sevens with my days - I really should start to keep a day book of my shenanigans so I can remember the rough order of when things happened....

I left you the other day about to head out for a Chinese....

Well we did. And it was once again delicious. This time however we were in one of the karaoke booths. No singing. But delicious inside out chicken wings instead seemed to hit the spot. Note to self - the squid rings also v delicious. Also there was a rather aggressive karaoke host - who wanted to shake hands with DT whilst they were covered in sticky sauce of off aforementioned wings. His not hers.

Anyhoo - after the short stroll back to the hotel it was to the bar for a nightcap (or two).

So that takes us to Friday. The usual office day job. V pleased we have the TV's so we can keep up to date on all the action. The C4 presenters are getting slightly better - but there's still that ever present "you're on love" whenever they go out of the studio - and some of the other pieces are a bit amaturish. They'd better pull their socks up.

Forgot to mention Burrito Friday (and indeed Thursday this week) - where half the office descend on the delicious mexican emporium round the corner from the 'Command Centre' serving tasty morsels.... HUGE burritos. MASSIVE. And rather delicious - and if it breaks my daily Pret a Manger routine so much the better.

After work it was a quick scamper back to the hotel to change out of uniform for Bethnal Green Soiree fun.

The Misty Moon - seemingly our preferred dodgy east end boozer of choice - served up the delicious chicken pad thai. And after a quick walk we appear at The Birdcage. Karaoke Bar. It seems our team is obsessed......

Apparently it seems all sorts have visited the Birdcage at one time or another recently, pop stars, gangsters, me.....and with reserved seats (we know people who know people...) next to the stage it was time for me to be firm in insisting I wasnt singing. The 'artistes' ranged from really rather good, to err, not so good...The biggest cheer of the night went (apart from members of our team who sang, pic above of Smithy & DT apparently 'holding out for a hero') to a guy who did Nessun Dorma.

Interesting clientele in the Birdcage - nice mix. From Hoxton trendies to the slightly more skinhead end of the spectrum. Something for everyone. Which was nice.

Before you could say "I'm not sure you should have gone for that Power Ballad" it was many rum and cokes later (really? I never usually drink rum and coke) and time to hunt for cabs. Hurrah for iphone app. Safely tucked up in bed (after texting Darren) by 3am. What has come over me? A late night? Standards are slipping...
